Addicted to goodie bags (don’t laugh, it is a serious disorder), need your next fix of in-the-know super-sales? But all that shopping leave you feeling a little empty, asking are these beautiful clothes really making me beautiful on the inside? The answer is here… The purveyors of cool, forecasters of fashion, GEN ART (of whom we are extremely loyal) are having a Summer Shopping Spree and Beauty Extravaganza…and when it’s Gen Art, you know its gonna be cool. Here’s the scoop : Live DJ spinning all day, Super-sales from 30 great designers (ah hem), Interactive Hair/Skin/Makeup Lounges and an open bar (uh, seriously, do I need to go on?). The event opens with a VIP Champagne Pre-Sale from 9a-12n (gotta be on the list, limited VIP tix are available for $20), and will be free to the fashion public from 12n-6p. Oh yeah, I almost forgot (I promised you’d feel good on the inside, too!), a portion of all designer sales will go to GEN ART… and in case you have been living under a bulky sweater, GEN ART is a non-profit organization that showcases emerging designers (ah hem, ah hem), filmmakers and musicians. We love these guys and are happy to participate! Come, be beautiful and feel good (and score more goodie bags).
Although I must make a disclaimer that I am not exactly a technology brainchild (stop laughing). I think technology rules. I shutter to think what I did before my Sidekick, Tivo and Illustrator. Fashion and technology have one major thing in common. What’s in today is out tomorrow (I can hear Heidi Klum now… “you’re in. you’re out. Auf Wiedersehen!”). The two industries joined forces at the Fashion in Motion Runway Show at the CTIA Wireless Event in New Orleans (sans Heidi Klum, but plus Sean “P. Diddy” Combs). The event included a runway show with models sporting wireless technology and was sponsored by the likes of Elle Magazine, Samsung, Boost Mobile & Motorola. The runway show featured designers kushcush (yes, keep up people), Diane von Frustenberg, Corey Lynn Calter, Sean John, Miss Sixty, Rami Kashou, Betsey Johnson, Rachel Pally, Poleci and Eduardo Lucero. Pics soon to follow. Feeling like you’re left standing alone at the end of a crazed sample sale with one mismatched shoe, wondering where everybody went? Sulking in your satin pillow asking ‘why oh why’ you live in Iowa?
Email customerservice@kushcush.com and let us know where you’d like to see kushcush next. Our crew will look into something fabulous in your area, and just maybe the marvelous mayhem will come to a city near you! We are still recovering from the whirlwind that was LA Fashion Week. Here’s a brief recap of the events week of 3.14.05 (and why I need a nap). Monday. Gen Art ‘The New Garde’ held at the awe-inspiring MOMA Geffen Contemporary Museum. Pretty sweet event as usual. Designers had insanely creative installations showing their fashion week presentations. Good times. Gift bag grade = B. Post Gen Art headed to the Kitten Magazine Spring Bloom Launch Party at Cinespace. Cool band (Telecast). Wore kitten ears. Enough said. Tuesday. Rock the Runway Opening Night Gala. The opening night celebration was hosted by Cindy Crawford at the new H.D. Buttercup building. The event raised $100k for the City of Hope Cancer Research (yay!) and included a super short, thought-you-were-still-warming-up concert by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (although loved their Bjork cover). I’m all for giving and certainly don’t want to whine about raising $100k, but the event seemed short in just about all areas. I nearly got pummeled in the doorway when one of the scarcely seen hors d’oeuvres trays made an appearance. Really people it’s quiche, not a miracle cure. The event concluded with an early mad dash for the door and goodie bags. Gift bag grade = B+ (freebies included Eye cream & Mask from Cindy Crawford’s new skincare line, which I totally needed by week’s end). Wednesday. Vogue party at Fred Segal Flair for Anna Sui and her new cell phone (fashion and technology unite again!). Any day at Fred Segal is a good day, and it can only get better when you add Vogue and Anna Sui. Good food (the desert was a serious piece of chocolate heaven), champagne abound, cool dj, great guest list. So here’s the name-dropping portion of the evening. If you’re against this kind of thing, please by all means stop reading and go onto something else. Okay. Anna Sui (of course, it’s her party), but also looking fabulous was the adorable Reese Witherspoon. Love her. Totally had a Legally Blonde moment! Marc Jacobs. Genius. I could barely tear myself away from that delectable chocolate cake. The list goes on, but really Marc Jacobs and Reese Witherspoon, need I go on? Gift bag grade = incomplete. I’m sure they were spectacular, but I was too busy geeking out to notice the free stuff. Thursday. St. Patty’s Day. Celebrated my Irish heritage with margaritas and taquitos at the Border Grill in Santa Monica. Then had a casual evening in Malibu at our friend O’Brien’s house (ok, his name is just Brian). Friday. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios. Entertained pre-show by the interesting cocktail combinations and Song interactive flight seats. The collections took just a little too long to start. You can only be entertained by the pre-show hoopla for so long (even one of the Apprentice pseudo-celebs left early). After Smashbox we headed over to see the Fall Collection Presentation of Kevin – don’t know his last name, but aka Week 8 booted off from Project Runway, Kevin. We arrived late to The Roosevelt Hotel, but saw a few pieces of his work at the after-party. Loved the long bright pink coat! You go Kevin! Saturday. I’m tired. Need Nap. Must give shout out to my east coast girls who were with us this crazy week and kept up like true fashionistas (…“From the moment I wake up & put on my make-up, I say a little prayer for you!”). Fashion week concluded. Get excited for the SS06 Collections next October (yours truly will be showing). Love it! Take two! On 3.23.05, the Gen Art 10th Annual Film Festival kicked off with a LA Launch Party at the Armani Casa on Robertson Blvd. The crowd composed of press, industry and just fab people, including Samuel L. Jackson, Bai Ling and Carmen Electra (minus rocker husband). Open bar + Armani retail furniture could’ve been a risky move, but the composed crowd handled it like seasoned vip’ers…. Luckily the after-party down the street wasn’t using the good china. Get on the Double-Dutch Bus! Our friends at C-Label shoes, love the peeps, love the shoes, invited us aboard the Superfabulous Bus Tour of Hollywood (unofficial, working title) on the Royal Elastics bus (another phat shoe company). The rockin’ tour bus made stops all around the city of dreams on 3.25.05 with a mobile birthday/dance party. Witnesses spotted the superfly bus at The Dragonfly, The Beauty Bar and Dublin’s XES. By nights end, the bus lost a few, gained a few and all were over-accessorized in the finest Royal Elastics wristbands, sweatbands and logo hats. Quite the scene to be seen. Unofficial gift bag grade = A-
February 12, 2005 02:55 Not only is Pink clearly my favorite color, but now I get to put my previous shallow obsession to good use. We will be donating girlie pink ‘cupcake’ bikinis to the PINK PROJECT Los Angeles. The Pink Project is a photography book in which the proceeds benefit the RAINN (The Rape, Abuse & Incest Nation Network) and LABCA (Los Angeles Breast Cancer Alliance). The book will be centered around the theme PINK (love it!) and will feature celebrity volunteers, writers, teachers, musicians and survivors of breast cancer and sexual assault. We are tickled pink to be a part of this project. Okay, yes, that was cheesy, but it’s a great organization & we’re happy to be a part of it. Stay tuned for more details of this worthy cause. For more information, go to www.thepinkproject.com. We just arrived back from a fabulous fashion show fundraiser with Blush Boutique in Scottsdale, AZ during the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction. Bikinis and cars, you snidely ask – um, I don’t think so! This was a first-class fashionable soiree. The finale was a crowd favorite and featured our too-cute Bella bridal bikini complete with a sparkling veil and bouquet. If you missed it, the fashion show will be airing locally on Valentine’s Day. Join our mailing list to recieve our newsletter and exclusive event invites (minus pesky junk mail)!
